The public is invited to attend a hearing on Wednesday, Feb. 24 to discuss the future of the Mitchell Park Domes.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. at in the annex attached to The Domes, 524 S. Layton Blvd., Milwaukee.
The Mitchell Park Domes are closed for at least a few months, as protective netting is installed to protect visitors from potentially falling concrete debris from the structures’ internal frames.
The Arid Dome was closed first on Jan. 28 after fallen concrete was discovered, and officials then closed the two other structures on Friday, Feb. 5.
The aging, deteriorating structures were built in stages between 1959 and 1967 and will need significant remain and reconstruction to ensure their future. Estimated cost of replacement is about $75 million, according to the county.
