Milwaukee County Park in partnership with The Ability Center will present Ramp Up MKE 2 on Saturday, Feb. 6 to kick-off a fundraising campaign to make Slice of Ice at Red Arrow Park in Milwaukee more accessible to people with mobility disabilities.

"We’d like to give people with disabilities the opportunity to ice skate alongside their able-bodied friends and family," said Damian Buchman, founder of The Ability Center. "Together with our friends in the Parks Department, we’re making Milwaukee more accessible, one location at a time."

The event, which runs from 3-6 p.m. at Slice of Ice, will give visitors the opportunity to try out sledges - or ice sleds. Both self-propelled and push models will be available.

A GoFundMe campaign has been started to raise $3,000 to purcahse three of these sledges for the ice rink.

Free Starbucks coffee, hot chocolate and s'mores kits will be available while supplies last.

This is the second  Ramp Up MKE campaign. The first went to purchasing three wide-tired wheelchairs for Bradford Beach.
