Sometimes it’s the little things that have the biggest impact. Milwaukee area families tested some products that are practical, cute or just downright fun.

Baby blanketsBaby stroller blanket and burp cloths

Blanket is made with chamois and added batting. Non-pilling and hypoallergenic. $24

Sixply, 100% cotton burp cloths. $16/3-pack

Burp cloths are absorbent, cute and durable. Blanket is snugly soft, washes well. It has become one of my go-to blankets! Both display handmade uniqueness and quality and are clearly sewed with care. I recommend these items; great for gifts.

Pop the PigPop! The Pig

Watch the pig’s belly get bigger until it pops! 2–6 players. Ages 4+ $22.99

This is a really easy game to set up. The instructions are very clear. My daughter has no problem following the rules and enjoys playing. The players just need to make sure they push down hard enough on the pig's head until it clicks. Great game!

Battle SheepBattle Sheep

Occupy the most pastures.

2–4 players. Ages 7+. $24.99

Incredibly fun and thought-provoking strategy game for kids and adults; it definitely exceeds our expectations! The kids like that it requires them to think strategically and learn from mistakes. The variations of game boards and short playing time are also positives. We wish the board pieces would interlock. However, we highly recommend.

Groovy GlobeGroovy Globe

Projects color-lighted images. Auto shut-off after 45 minutes. $25.95

My daughter thinks it’s fun the way it projects fish, bubbles, and star images throughout the ceiling of her room. With a push of a button, she can turn it on, choose one color, or rotate from purple to pink. I really like the auto shut-off. It fits on a small nightstand and can even sit on a carpeted floor. It is battery operated, so we took it camping and used it in the tent!

Love BugLove Bug

Raffi's first children's album in 12 years. $10

My children and I have fun listening to the songs on this CD. We especially enjoy “On Hockey Days” and “Doggone Woods.” These songs are a bit more upbeat. The majority are more soothing with beautiful harmonies, making for easy listening.

BouncerSit and Play Bouncer

Features a removable toy bar. Plays melodies and a nature sound. $44

This is a very useful item. It's nylon material makes it easy to clean, the colors are bold and bright, and its two levels of reclining are handy. It is compact and very portable. Also offers music and vibrations. A highly recommended item for your baby!

Milestone Mini Cards

Milestone mini cardsA NEW innovative idea for parents: 100 unique, illustrated cards for recording all the quirky, unexpected things your kids say and do every day.

I really like the concept of the Milestone Mini Cards. As a busy mom, it is sometimes difficult to remember to write down those memorable statements. I feel these cards will be a great keepsake to give to my son when he is older. The cards did meet my expectations, although I would have preferred more gender-neutral colors. The website mentions the idea of adding pictures. However, due to the size of the cards, this may present more of a challenge. I do recommend the cards to those who are good with remembering to write things down.
