The holidays are all about family, but sometimes you want to leave the kids at home and enjoy the seasonal downtown atmosphere with just your significant other. Here are some fun Milwaukee holiday date ideas!
A Grand Avenue Christmas
How many times have you driven down Wisconsin Avenue, passed by the Pabst Mansion and thought, "I'd love to see what that looks like inside"? There's no better opportunity to take a tour of the gorgeous mansion than when it's decked out for the holidays!
Self-guided tours are available November 18 through January 8 from 10 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 12 noon to 3:15 p.m. Sundays. There are limited hours Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, and the mansion is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.
Milwaukee Public Market
The Public Market is a fun destination any time of the year, but it's especially fun to wander through the booths, sampling wine, chocolate and other goodies during the festive holiday times. And, if you head out to the market December 2 through December 14, you can enjoy those goodies while strolling hand-in-hand through the Parade of Gingerbread Houses. MATC culinary students craft some truly remarkable gingerbread houses every year; if one strikes your fancy enough, you can even bid on it in the silent auction.
Milwaukee Food Tours
Christmas in the city is always exhilarating. Add in a tour and some great food, and you couldn't get much better. Milwaukee offers several different options for eating your way through the city. There's the Brady Street Tour where you'll get the chance to sample the cuisine of Italian and Polish immigrants. There's the Historic Third Ward Tour, which takes you to five different restaurants. And there's the Pizza Bus Tour; need we say more?
