There are the museums along the beautiful lakefront. There are vibrant communities, bustling with successful local businesses. Craft breweries are more than a unique place to grab a beer – they’re a way of life.

It’s all too easy for us to take it all for granted. From treats and trinkets to drinks and décor, Milwaukee has a lot to offer shoppers this holiday season.

Finding the perfect gift for that hard-to-buy-for aunt, cousin or friend that has everything can be a challenge. Especially if they live outside the area and you don’t see or talk with them as often as you may have before they moved.

The good news is there are plenty of ways to share Milwaukee love. We have put together some tips for how to keep friends and family who don’t live in the area in touch with all things Mil-Town.

For the beverage lover

It’s no secret that Wisconsin-ites, and particularly Cream City natives, love their beverages. Milwaukee has a history that is rich in barley and hops, and beer brewed in and around Milwaukee is a guaranteed hit with out-of-towners. New Glarus is a favorite, alongside Lakefront Brewery and other local craft beers. Try out the New Glarus Spotted Cow or the Lakefront Brewery Hop Jockey for fun and unique beers.

Consider browsing a local shop or winery for the best local selection and staff who can offer valuable insight and suggestions. Wine from Wisconsin wineries like Cedarburg’s Cedar Creek Winery are another great idea, in addition to coffee from unique local shops like Valentine, Anodyne and Colectivo. Keep in mind, especially with wine and beer, that it may be challenging to ship alcohol, so these may be gifts best delivered in person.

For the sweet tooth

Milwaukee is also abundant in sweet little indulgences. Soda drinkers would love an assortment of Black Bear sodas (The orange is a fan favorite) or Sprecher Root Beer products. And who wouldn’t enjoy a Racine Kringle (or a baker's dozen)? Another pricey (but guaranteed to be popular) idea would be to talk to a favorite custard place like Kopp’s about shipping some custard out of state.

For the sports fan or hobbyist

Once a Packer fan, always a Packer fan. From Cheesehead-themed anything to jerseys and other attire, anything Packers will likely be a huge hit under the tree. The same goes for Brewers garb and memorabilia as well. And they may be able to find Harley-Davidson items elsewhere, but you can’t beat the selection of products available for Harley lovers here in the home of the HOG.

For the foodie

Known for being one of the most prominent dairy producing states in the country, it doesn’t get more Wisconsin than cheese. Specialty cheeses would be a great choice for almost anyone on your list, especially if you accompany them with some Usinger’s sausage.

Make your own sampler basket of deliciousness or browse from Usinger’s pre-packaged offerings. The Feast is an appropriately named gift choice: nine different cheeses and sausages along with a delicious honey mustard spread and handy-dandy knife. For a mouth-watering delicacy sure to thrill the foodie in your life, consider sending some of Wisconsin’s best bacon straight from Nueske’s. They even have an Award-Winner Gift Sampler for the bacon-lovers on your list.

For the all thinks MKE lover

Chances are, most Milwaukee lovers will love any of these things. From beer and sausage to kringles and bacon, there are a lot of options to appease almost any palate. Yet there are also plenty of other options to fill their hearts instead of their stomachs.

Check out a local farmer’s market or shop that specializes in locally sourced and handmade items, like Roost in Pewaukee. Or shop online for MKE Home items or unique décor like a “Milwaukee Feeds and Supplies the World” or neighborhood posters available for purchase from the city. Other online specialty stores like Etsy shops and Sparrow Collective offer a variety of clothes and home décor for any Milwaukee lover.

It’s true that finding the perfect gift for the person who already has everything can be a struggle, but it doesn’t have to be.

Instead, send them something from Milwaukee, with love.
