Nothing says the holidays like gingerbread -- cookies, houses, men, you name it, gingerbread means Christmas.
Here are three ways for you and your family to get your gingerbread on this year.
Make your own gingerbread house
Every year the Milwaukee Public Library puts on a series of holiday-themed storytimes in December. In this year's series, your kids will get the chance to listen to the story of the gingerbread man and then make their own mini-gingerbread house. Check our everything holiday directory or the MPL website for the times and dates at the branch closest to your house, and call ahead because registration is required.
Meet Jan Brett
Jan Brett's stories about Gingerbread Baby provide a fun twist on the classic gingerbread man tale, and just in time for the holiday season, she's releasing her new book, "Gingerbread Christmas", and she's even going to be bringing her book tour to Milwaukee on December 4! Check out our story about her tour for more details.
Tour the experts' creations
For many families, a holiday tradition has become to take a tour of the amazing gingerbread houses created by MATC's culinary students at the Milwaukee Public Market. This year the houses will be on display from December 2 through the 14. You and your family can vote on your favorite, and if you find one you really love, you can even bid on it in the silent auction! Check the Public Market's website for viewing hours.
