Pretty much any event you can think of that goes on at the Milwaukee County Zoo is kid-friendly, and that's definitely true of the annual Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Zoo a la Carte, coming up this Thursday, August 17 through Sunday, August 20.

The Feast with the Beasts invites you to grab lawn chairs, blankets and spread out on grassy areas and picnic tables throughout the Zoo as you enjoy live music, great food from 26 local restaurants and then get the chance to see the animals at night.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday. Adult tickets are $14.25, children ages 3-12 are $11.25 and kids 2 and under are free.

In addition to some traditional favorites like Saz's, Water Street Brewery and Aladdin's, the Zoo is welcoming Reids Roasted Corn, Rich's House of Cakes and Rock Bottom Brewery to sell their food this year for the first time.

An extra bonus for the kids is that the Milwaukee Art Museum's Kohl's Color Wheels will be on hand so kids can create their own art projects.
