Discovery World will be the home of a traveling exhibit this summer all about the organisms that make their home inside all of us!
Zoo in You will be at Milwaukee's science museum May 13-September 4, and hosts three different thematic areas where kids can have fun learning about microbes.
Meet the Microbes
In this area, kids will learn all about the four types of microbes that live in and on us: bacteria, archaea, fungi and viruses. Some of the hands-on activities that will help to cement this knowledge include manipulating a marble maze to learn how a newborn baby is first colonized by microbes.
Our Complex Ecosystems
In this area, kids will have the chance to engage in hands-on activities, such as using green screen technology to do a "weather report" on the climate conditions of their bodies, playing a touch screen video game to keep gut microbes in balance and learning how long it takes to be germ-free at the hand-washing station.
Exploring Our Microbiome
In this area, kids will have the opportunity to use a microscope to observe real preserved specimens, build virus puzzles, assemble DNA strands, and there's even a photo opportunity to imagine what they would look like as a microbe!
