Food is one of the most universal things, something that connects us all.

That's something that the Milwaukee Public Museum's newest traveling exhibit, "Global Kitchen: Food, Nature, Culture" strives to get across to visitors.

The exhibit, which runs through July 9, encourages people to experience food through all five of their senses -- yes, even taste!

Here are some of the cool things you and the kids can do:

  • Visit the Demonstration Kitchen to learn about and taste all different kinds of things -- from herbs and spices to a chocolate celebration!
  • Get involved in an interactive game that teaches about how food is transported.
  • Marvel at a sculpture that shows how much food is wasted every day.
  • Learn a bit about history in the life-size re-creation of a 16th-century Aztec marketplace.
